Nestlé Malaysia and MTT Shipping (MTTS) held a ship blessing ceremony for MTTS’s container vessel, MTT Bintangor, at Westports, Pulau Indah, Port Klang. The ceremony reflects a long-standing logistics relationship, with Nestlé cargo being carried on MTTS vessels through an appointed freight forwarder for close to a decade. As established Malaysian industry players, Nestlé Malaysia and MTTS reflect shared priorities including supply reliability, operational resilience, regional connectivity, as well as sustainability. The event underscores the importance of strategic industry relationships in strengthening Malaysia’s domestic and regional supply chain ecosystems.
MTT Bintangor plays an important role in supporting the efficient movement of Nestlé goods across key domestic and ASEAN trade routes, ensuring consistent availability of essential food and beverage products. As Malaysia’s leading Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, Nestlé Malaysia has a significant operational and commercial presence in East Malaysia. The company also exports its Halal-certified, made-in-Malaysia products across the region, with ASEAN markets accounting for around one third of total export sales. Through this relationship with one of Malaysia’s largest domestic shipping lines, Nestlé is now even better positioned to respond to shifting market demands, shorten delivery lead times, and enhance service reliability, particularly to Sabah and Sarawak, where supply chain robustness remains critical.

The symbolic flower-blessing ritual, conducted on the ship’s deck, signified hopes for good fortune, safe passage, and smooth operations throughout the vessel’s service. The event was attended by representatives from Nestlé Malaysia and MTT Shipping.

With a capacity of 1,836 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), MTT Bintangor supports MTTS’s domestic and regional services and contributes to resilient supply chain operations. The vessel is equipped to support the carriage of temperature-sensitive cargo, which is particularly important for Nestlé’s Ice Cream and Confectionery products, where temperature control and delivery efficiency are critical.
Sustainability is also a shared priority between Nestlé Malaysia and MTTS. Nestlé is steadily advancing its Net Zero roadmap and ESG goals, while MTTS is aligning its operations with long-term carbon reduction objectives towards carbon neutrality by 2050, alongside ongoing initiatives to improve fleet efficiency. Together, these efforts contribute to more responsible and future-ready logistics, further supporting Nestlé Malaysia’s ongoing investments to strengthen its end-to-end logistics infrastructure.
