Malaysian out-of-home (OOH) advertising company Seni Jaya Corporation Berhad has received regional recognition for one of the country’s more notable corporate turnaround stories, with Chief Executive Officer Jeff Cheah winning the Master Entrepreneur Award and the company receiving the Fast Enterprise Award at the Asia Pacific Enterprise Awards (APEA) 2026 Regional Edition.
The awards, presented by Enterprise Asia during a ceremony at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur on July 15, recognize companies and business leaders that have demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial leadership and business growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
For Seni Jaya, the recognition caps a five-year transformation that saw the company evolve from a traditional billboard operator into one of Malaysia’s largest integrated outdoor advertising providers.
When Cheah assumed the CEO role in May 2021, the company was operating almost exclusively in static billboards while the COVID-19 pandemic had severely disrupted advertising spending. Rather than shrinking operations, management pursued an expansion strategy focused on partnerships, acquisitions and digital transformation.
Today, the company manages more than 520 advertising locations nationwide, including over 80 digital billboards, while operating an asset-light model that allows it to expand its network through collaborations with third-party operators rather than relying solely on owned infrastructure.
The company’s financial performance reflects that strategy. Revenue increased from RM8.75 million in FY2021 to RM69.71 million in FY2025, representing growth of nearly eight times over four years. Within months of Cheah’s appointment, Seni Jaya had also become Malaysia’s second-largest OOH advertising provider by inventory and asset diversity.
One milestone came in 2023 when the company launched Malaysia’s first digital advertising gantry along the LDP in Kelana Jaya, an installation later recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records.
Industry observers say Malaysia’s outdoor advertising sector has been undergoing rapid modernization as advertisers increasingly demand integrated campaigns combining physical displays with digital engagement and measurable consumer data. Companies capable of bridging traditional media with digital technology are expected to benefit as marketing budgets continue shifting toward omnichannel campaigns.
Seni Jaya has accelerated that transition through acquisitions including Unilink Outdoor Group, Andaman Media, Vision OOH and Ganad.
The company has also expanded beyond conventional outdoor advertising through the launch of SYNQ, a digital solutions business designed to complement roadside advertising with digital engagement. Together, the businesses form what Seni Jaya calls its Integrated Intelligent Digital Solution (IIDS), enabling advertisers to connect billboard campaigns with digital interactions on consumers’ personal devices.
Cheah said the company’s recovery was driven by confidence during one of the industry’s most difficult periods.
“When the pandemic brought this industry to a near standstill, I held on to one belief, that self conviction is the foundation of any turnaround. The strongest headwinds, when met with clarity and resolve, can be converted into the very lift that drives a business forward.”
Beyond commercial growth, Seni Jaya has expanded employee development programs, supported industry training through World Out of Home Organization forums and sponsored digital advertising space for numerous charitable and community initiatives.
Its client portfolio has also grown to include major campaigns such as Samsung Malaysia’s TRX Galaxy Station installation and the B★VERSE BTS exhibition at Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
Looking ahead, the company plans to strengthen its audience analytics, expand programmatic advertising capabilities and develop new recurring revenue streams through gamified advertising technologies.
While the APEA awards recognize past achievements, the next challenge for Seni Jaya will be sustaining its momentum as Malaysia’s outdoor advertising market becomes increasingly driven by technology, data and measurable campaign performance.
