UNIRAZAK Showcases Commitment To Educational Excellence

Highlights: · UNIRAZAK participated in the 2024 Education and Learning Summit and was awarded the Malaysian Education Excellence Award for its dedication to academic excellence and continuous improvement. · The Vice Chancellor of UNIRAZAK, YBhg. Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) participated in 2024 Education and Learning Summit recently held at WTC, Kuala Lumpur on 23rd April 2024. The distinguished delegation representing UNIRAZAK, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Encik Amil Izham Hamzah and Vice Chancellor YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Samsinar Md Sidin, alongside the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Excellence and Sustainability, Prof. Dr. Zulkifflee Bin Mohamed and Deans representing the Schools.

UNIRAZAK was presented with the Malaysian Education Excellence Award by the Deputy Minister of Education Malaysia, YB Wong Kah Woh, and Deputy Chairman of KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal Rawther. Adding to the honour, YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Samsinar Md Sidin was invited as a distinguished panellist for the session titled “Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia: Fostering Creativity and Innovation – A Vice Chancellor Roundtable.”

Equal Access and Elevating TVET: A Focus on Inclusivity


The 2024 Malaysia Education and Learning Summit provided a platform for exploring the future of education. Underscoring the government’s commitment to educational advancement, Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal Rawther, Deputy Chairman of the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, highlighted the allocation of RM58.5 billion for the national education sector. This represents the highest level of funding committed, with a significant portion (RM16.3 billion) targeted towards higher education.

The Ministry of Education, represented by Deputy Minister YB Wong Kah Woh, emphasised a core focus on ensuring equal educational opportunities for all. Underscoring the importance of Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) programmes, YB Wong Kah Woh outlined a vision for their future: “We don’t want TVET education to be seen as a secondary option. We want it to be part of the mainstream, where students can make informed choices based on their aspirations.”

The government is prioritising the development TVET and its programmes. An additional RM6.8 billion has been earmarked to strengthen this crucial area, ensuring that graduates possess the in-demand skills necessary to thrive in the ever-changing job market.

UNIRAZAK commitment to innovation and educational integration established its own TVET Accredited Centre (Pusat Bertauliah) in 2023. The centre offers a variety of Diploma in Malaysian Skills (DKM4) programmes, including Early Childhood Care & Development Supervision, Administrative Management, Preschool Education, and Computer System Administration. It also provides Malaysian Skills Certificates (SKM3) programmes in Graphic Design (Digital) and Interactive Media Design. An added benefit of monthly allowances for enrolled students.
