LGMS Berhad has won another award, this time being the “Cyber Security Product Innovation of the Year” award during the Malaysia Cybersecurity Awards 2023 held in conjunction with the recent Cyber Digital Services Defence & Security Asia (CyberDSA) 2023.

“The LGMS StarSentry was the result of extensive cybersecurity R&D and developed for its user-friendliness to enable SME owners with smart and efficient network security with unmatached ease of use,” said LGMS Executive Chairman Fong Choong Fook who had received the award on behalf of the company.

“It offers effortless installation being a company plug-and-play device which connects to users’ networks and analyses all linked devices for vulnerabilities automatically,” he added.

LGMS has also made StarSentry accessible for all SMEs through its customised subscription options and a low entry barrier, aimed at improving the overall cybersecurity posture of SMEs across Malaysia.

Other features and capabilities include remote management by LGMS if needed, with automation for system updates, pot scans of hosts and internal self-protection. Users can also access an easy-to-use web portal for view results and potential vulnerabilities.

“The StarSentry solution is expected to contribute positively to LGMS’ bottom line as it will also serve as a recurring source of income for the LGMS Group,” said Fong.

At the CyberDSA, Minister Fahmi also announced that the Malaysian Cybersecurity Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament by year-end or early next year. The bill is currently being drafted by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) under the National Security Council (MKN).

“The ministry is actively collaborating with the cybersecurity community to explore quantum-safe cryptographic solutions in strengthening the nation’s digital resilience,” said Fahmi, adding that the cyber threat landscape is evolving and could have potential impacts on individuals, businesses and nations.

Fong commended the Malaysian Government’s escalated focus on cybersecurity amidst an increasingly digitised society and mounting cyber threats.

“With the digital economy anticipated to contribute approximately 25.5% to Malaysia’s GDP by 2025, a parallel focus on enhancing cybersecurity resources is not just appropriate but essential,” said Fong.

Fong also emphasised the necessity for diverse stakeholder collaboration, urging the inclusion of other government agencies, private sector companies, academia and civil society. He also advocated for engaging with international cybersecurity organisations and standard-setting bodies to align Malaysia’s efforts with global best practices.

LGMS today holds multiple industry credentials, including being the only PCI accredited ASV and QSA in Malaysia.

It also has an ISO 17025 Accredited Penetration Testing Lab and is recognised by TÜV AUSTRIA Group for reliable and valid testing results. LGMS is a member of the Center for Internet Security and is the first Malaysian cyber security consultancy company certified by TÜV Nord in ISO/IEC 27001:2013.

The company also has partnerships with top cloud providers and has won international and local awards, including being recognised last year as the ‘Tech Excellence Award for Cybersecurity’ by ASOCIO and Malaysia’s ‘Cybersecurity Company of the Year’ by CyberSecurity Malaysia.
